Interestingly, it became a day people desired to renew their Christian life or to start it afresh. This resulted in our church pews filled with capacity. So far as my congregations are concern, the members were happy to sing expressing their first praises, say their first prayers, give their first moneys, and dine the first time with the Lord in this year. Gratitude was duly offered to God for ushering us into this new year 2012. The congregations such as Juaso, Brofoyedur, Ketukrom, Adjetey Camp, and Stationview have started very beautifully with their Church Programs of activities and lessons.

CHURCH@ 50
The Regional Lectureship marking Church of Christ at 50 was a great success on September 17, 2011 from 8am-12 midday. Whereas the National Launching in Accra recorded the attendance of 831, the Regional Lectureship recorded an attendance of 587 including 32 Preachers, 6 Elders and 4 Deacons.

The next programme of activity was CLEAN UP EXERCISE and BLOOD DONATION at Winneba Government Hospital which took place on Saturday October 29th, 2011 at 8.00am. Our target for the blood donation was 100 pints needed 100 people. According to the hospital authorities this would be the highest blood donation ever since in this hospital, but surprisingly, we could donate 2001 pints, the work load on the laboratory technicians became so great. Stationview, Juaso, Brofoyeduru sent 32 members to donate blood.

While the blood donation was on going, others were also doing the clean up exercise at the hospital as directed by the authorities. Singing and praying with the patients in beds at the hospital also went alongside with the blood donation and the cleaning. A nearby village where there is a congregation of Church of Christ was also blessed in our celebration when we donated clothing and other items to the township.

Church of Christ has operated in Ghana for the past 50 years; that is from 1961 – 2011. It is therefore important to consider the emergence of the local churches in the various areas in terms of districts and regions as a whole. With regard to the history of the Church of Christ in Assin, it started in the latter days of December 1982 at Assin Juaso. It is interesting for PCC to know that Juaso Church of Christ being the oldest in Assin is 29 years now. The first worship was held on December 17th 1982 with the attendance of 3 adults, 2 children and 2 visitors. HURRAYYYYYYYYYY.

BAPTISM
Our evangelism strategy is that two weeks every Sunday we close from church early so we can reach people in our communities and study with them.

On Sunday 16th October, three (3) people were baptized at Stationview who were study prospects at St. Andrews senior High School where we have a campus church. These students have been very good and took our Bible Studies with them serious.
Two souls were also baptized at Assin Brofoyeduru on Thursday 6th October 2011. They became our prospects after the gospel campaign held there some months ago, and now have understood our message and have shown much interest in becoming members of the Church of Christ.

<img style="float:right; The command to forgive one another is very urgent in the sense that God demands from Christians the practice of forgiveness. How can one claim to be a good Christian (Christ – like) and neglect forgiveness. The command from our Lord Jesus Christ is obvious (Matthew 5:38-42). God cares for our spiritual growth in Christianity, and truly when Christians fail to work on forgiveness it results in retardation of their spiritual growth.

2. We are God’s people (1 Pet 2:9); we belong to God, and God’s people ought to live by the word that comes from the mouth of God (Matt 4:4). Therefore, unforgiveness, as Christians are rather practicing has its source from INGNORANCE, NEGLIGENCE, and MISUNDERSTANDING of the word itself.

DEFINITION
1. ETYMOLOGY: Rom 3:25 – Paul uses “paresis” instead of the usual “aphesis”.
a. “paresis”= putting aside, disregarding; it was that God had treated sins as though He had forgiven them.
b. “aphesis”= putting away completely and unreservedly. (ISBE)

2. Forgiveness in Greek = APHESIS, Literally means dismissed, release, remission
of sins – VINES EXPOSITORY DICTIONARY OF OLD AND NEW TESTAMENT WORDS IN GREEK.

3. Pardon or Remission usually based on one’s repenting and being willing to make reparation. It results in the parties involved being returned to their former relationship. To restore God’s favour to man after the fall required his forgiving man.

4. Forgiveness means, to say or feel that one is no longer angry about and, or wishing to give punishment to (someone) for something.

5. God’s forgiveness= kaphar (Deut 21:8).
6. Human forgiveness= nasa (Gen 50:17; Exd 10:16-17.
7. “Kapha”r and “nasa” are synonyms of forgiveness, and to understand it fully such words are SAVE, JUSTIFY, RECONCILE, and ATONEMENT.

I. FORGIVENESS CANNOT JUST COME UNLESS
1. An offence has been committed (sin).
2. Someone has committed sin (Man)
3. Someone has seen offended (God).

II. THE NEED OF FORGIVENESS IS UNIVERSAL (Rom 3:23, Eccl 7:20; I John 1:10).
1. When we forgive we do so for two reasons:
a. We are obeying God’s command.
b. We forgive to be happy because we are the ones who gain most from our forgiving actions.
c. Many times rather than truly forgiving we habour grudges, bitterness, and self-pity until we have an appetite for little else. Our ability to handle these hostile feelings are our keys to good mental health.

III. FORGIVING AS GOD FORGIVES (Matt 18:23-27)
1. God is a God who delights in forgiving sinners who truly repent – c/f Neh 9:17, Dan 9:9; Exd 34:6-7. As citizens of the Kingdom of heaven (vr 23), we have entered an entirely new realm of unlimited mercy and forgiveness.

2. God’s forgiveness is just and no priest can forgive sins against God. The debtor (vr 24) had been forgiven 10,000 talents of silver = $ 16,425,000. The debtor is to be sold into slavery with his entire family. Instead, in an act of compassion, the Lord removed the debt. The debtor left that meeting a free man.

3. A simple comparison can be drawn between what the Lord did for his servant and what God did for us in His own costly act of compassion in Jesus. We too had an unpayable debt of sin. Our ability to forgive is a direct result of our being forgiven. When we find it hard to forgive someone it may indicate our own need to experience God’s forgiveness more deeply.

IV. FORGIVING AS THE WORLD FORGIVES (Mat 18:28-30)

1. Christians are in this world but not of this world. Christians are to portray the image of Christ to the world for them to know see Christ and WHY He came down on this earth.

2. The servant found a fellow servant who owed him 100 pence (denarius) =
$ 17.00, he refused to forgive him and cast him into prison, by not bordering his defense of asking him for a time to pay the debt.

3. Instead of compassion, he was meet with ruthlessness and was cast into prison.

4. The first servants actions towards the second are the same one’s we use to justify our continued hard feelings towards those who has wronged us. You have forgiven the person often, but offenses continue. A worldly person would feel absurd, and say it is enough. The worlds approach to matters of forgiveness has limits.

5. Citizens of the Kingdom must accept a new standard of forgiveness, one without limits. No thoughtful Christians can fail to feel the strain of this teaching, for we are all inclined to say ‘’Enough’’. But God has a way of disturbing us, thereby leading us to a higher standard of mercy from which we can forgive that person who were previously thought unforgivable.

V. FORGIVING AS WE HAVE BEEN FORGIVEN ( Mat 18:31-35, Col 3:13; Eph 4:32)

1. We certainly should not imagine that our unwillingness to forgive limits God’s ability to forgive.

2. Forgiveness means forgetting – Heb 8:12

3. Perfect forgiveness needs great faith – Lk 17:4-5
a. It has no limit - The number ‘’7’’
b. We should stand ready at all times to forgive our offenders

4. Holding on to and nurture an offense, give that offense and the offender power over as.

5. Remaining unforgivable, allows little room for maturing.

6. There should be evidence of your forgiveness.
a. How would a prisoner know if a governor pardoned him of a crime/
b. Let us underscore the importance of praying for someone who has offended us, like praying for our enemies.

CONCLUSION

1. God is in His business of forgiving fallible men & women 2 Pt 3:9
2. We must desire and practice forgiveness
3. He will forgive you now if you will comply with terms of forgiveness.

MEETING AND INTERACTING WITH DISABLED PERSONS

Barely two months ago, helpingstone ministry met and interacted with some deaf, blind and physically challenged persons. Thus, they migrate to the cities to seek greener pastures, and others get into sex and alchoholism.

It must be borne in mind that, every great achiever should have a good mentor to initiate him into an area of development.

After an identification of their setbacks in Assin, there is an area of progress where many of the youth from Assin can get their future better life, thus, the establishment of ASSIN KENTE TOURISM PROJECT.

The main aim is to bring kente Industry in Assin, which is according to a survey, the second to BONWIRE KENTE in the Ashanti Region of Ghana onto the lime light.

The next post will be the PURPOSE OF THE PROJECT.

ASSIN STATE AND KENTE WEAVING

Assin is the Municipality in which I work as a minister of the gospel in Ghana , and KENTE is our native and locally- made cloth which is being admired by the Presidents of the nation, our kings, Government Ministers and members of Parliament, and other prominent men across Africa, U.S.A, etc.
Assin State has been in slumber over the years. Our hman, material and nayural resources have been used to develop other areas without due recognition. Our antural resources, Gold, Diamond, Sand and Stone, Quarry, Cocoa, Cassava, Citrus, Rice and plantations taken away from Assin to support other parts of the country, but Assin remains a poor

The most ugly side is the Assin Kente production. We can boast of 70% of pure Kente on the Ghanaian market today are from Assin State. We count about One Thousand, five hundred (1,500) people in Assin Kente production in Assin.

The retailers from all over the country buy the Assin Kente at cheap prices and only rename it and resell them at at high prices elsewhere.

Leaders of Assin are doing everything possible to change this trend for Assin to take credit for its human and material resources. "Yes they can".

MORE NEWS!!!

40TH BIRTHDAY

I am a 10th June, 1969 born. I celebrated my 40th birthday on 10th June. 2009. Prior to the day of celebration, I got most of my friends in Ghana and abroad informed through e-mails and text messages.
In the morning of 10th June, I first gathered my household and prayed for some time expressing my sincere thanks unto God for adding another year to my years. Someone will another "candle to my cake".
The next thing was a gathering which involves my siblings and Church members with the to receive counsel from them. They really gave a lot of advises to express their desire for God to extend my years. From this time going was songs of praises to God in my house,my beloved wife was the first to present a birthday card to me, and followed by brethren who were coming inn with birthday greetings, cards, and gifts.
At around 3.00 p.m getting to the evening, my wife prepared me some "FUFU" and light soup with goat meat speciaaaaal and the entire family of mine sat round a table and dinned peacefully.

I thank everyone who heard and became part of my birthday celebration. May God reward each and everyone. Things they can do are also very specail. Why? This is because itb is clearly stated in Gen. 1:26-27 that God created man in his own image. No matter what your situation is as a human being, you are God's image. All disable as well as able persons are God's image.

Deaf are someimes abondoned by thier friends, praents, society as well. I personally strongly believe that some deaf people can grow to become world changers depending on what the deaf people themslves can allow themselves to be taught to do.

On the contrary, majority of the deaf people accept poverty for themselves, but I want to say that deaf people cannot be poor. So let your deaf sons, daughters, fathers, mothers, friends and relatives that they cannot be poor. If you are a deaf or hearing impaired, tell yourself that I cannot be poor. If they have this thought and make this cofession, the little thing that someone will give to them, they can work faithfully with it and in due time become rich.

People often say negative things about the deaf; lets encourage them not to think about evil things people talk about them and get discouraged, or to determine what they should do, negatively. Let us continue to encourage them that God doesn't do things for nothing. He acn choose to let everybody speak or hear, but the question is, Why acn't some speak nor hear? Either you were born deaf, became by sickness or through accident, don't worry, lets say God has chosen to make you so and, therefore, has a very good plan for you. God did not plan to make deaf people useless, rather, useful for Himself nad His creation.

Let us encourage deaf people to dream big and high. Lets tell them that no one will arrest them for dreaming to become a president, lawyer, doctor, head of an institution, minister of God, or a successful businessman.

MAY GOD RICHLY BLESS YOU FOR ENCOURAGING DEAF PEOPLE.

DEAF CAMP 2008

The theme for the camp was " A HEALTHY CHRISTAN MAKES A HEALTHY CHURCH". From 24-27th Dec. 2008, deaf camp was held in Ghana at Akuapim Mampong in the Eastern Region. Stationview Church of Christ deaf brethren joined this program with 17 deaf people. We traveled a journey of 236km to the place. We started the journey at 5:30am and arrived there at 11:40am. It cost the church $250 to hire a car for us.

SPEAKERS
A Christian brother who was once a destitute and has made it from grass to grace was present and challenged the deaf and also inspired them not to look down on themselves as deaf or disabled persons but, to discover their fullest potentials to the glory of God and his church.

A professional medical personnel also was present and spoke on "the dangers of hepatitis, Diabetes and Cancer, its causes and prevention"

Ghana's most beautiful (Miss Ghana) was to be our special guest to tell us how it is like to be a child of a deaf parent, and to share with us her vision as well as her challenges as a child of a deaf parent. Very unfortunately, she could not attend the program due to some inconveniencies.

Other guest was also a gender/human rights activist and a legal practitioner. She was also supposed to take us through "the disability law of the land- its implication and application". She also could not come due to illness.

The national president of Deaf Association in Ghana presided over the entire program.

OTHER ACTIVITIES
Morning devotions were timely conducted from 7am-8am throughout and one morning I was called upon to give a shot devotional sermon. So I preached on Exodus 4:7-10.

There were Singing competition and the songs are: To God be the Glory, Walking in sunlight, and My Jesus I love Thee; Memory verses from Daniel 1:1-8; Bible Quiz with three brethren from each ministry to contest for beautiful prizes. The winning congregation will have to defend the prize in the next camp. Three times defender keeps the prize for good; and drama to keep our minds refreshed for the next coming year.

FEEDING
We were fed three meals a day. So we left there around 6:30pm and arrived home 12am midnight.

EXCUSE

I am very sorry for keeping you (all readers of this blog) in suspense from receiving additional news since my last publication on January 13, 2009. We have 24 hours as one day, 7days as one week, 4weeks as one month and 12 months as one year.

One day has atime limit of 24hours - then it starts over again.

One week have days limit of 7 - then it starts over again.

One month have weeks limit of 4 - then it starts over again.

One year have months limit of 12 - then it starts over again.

Have you questioned why is it so to start over again at the end of every limit?

Have you questioned why the next 24hours or every day takes a new name?

Have you questioned why the next month takes a new name?

Have you questioned why the name of certain years are called 2006, 2007, 2008, or 2009?

God causes these things to happen among human race. To start over or try again sensitizes us abou the necessary changes to be made in life from negative to positive and also from failure to success.

The term "New Year" calls for new things , change for new better things, and gives us a chance to TRY AGAIN or to START OVER AGAIN. Ephesians 4:22a tells us to remove our old sin and put on new self-living.

As we celebrate the New Year: Think about some areas of weakness in your life. Some believe it is a polemic against child sacrifice. So God told Abraham to use an animal instead of his son. However, this theory does not take into consideration the fact that God Himself told Abraham to offer Isaac in the first place.

Others think that the primary purpose is to emphasize the importance of obedience to God, and this is certainly a significant point in this. In Genesis Chapter 2-3 there was curse due to man’s DISOBEDIENCE, and Chapter 12-50 is the details of how God planned to reverse the curse through Abraham’s DISOBEDIENCE.

GOD’S PRIMARY GOAL IN CALLING AND COMMANDING ABRAHAM
A. To test his faith in God’s purposes and promises.
1. Abraham’s call in Ur and Haran (Gen. 11:31; cf Acts 7:2-4. He had to give up his country, kindred and his father’s house.
2. In Gerar (Gen. 20: 10-14): He had to give up his concubine Hagar and his son Ishmael.
3. Now he is to give up Isaac, his only son by Sarah (Gen. 22:1-19)

B. To discover how firm was this man’s faith in the ultimate divine purpose.
1. Abraham had to cut himself off from his entire past when he left his homeland and now is summoned to give up his entire future.
2. It was one thing to start resolutely for the Promised Land, but it was again a different thing to maintain confidence in the promise when all appeared lost.
3. Abraham had to project his faith far into the future.

GOD”S TEST OF ABRAHAM (GEN. 22:1-19)
A. The Hebrew word ‘nissah’ means ‘to put to test.’ God may with good motives allow one to be tested, but will never place inducement before one to lead into temptation ( 1 Cor 10:13). His ultimate motive is what is good and not what is evil.
B. The test to go a long journey and perform- Vss 1-9
1. The journey of about 50miles/80km took him three days.
2. “ Land of Moriah”, a place of many mountains- one of the hills on which Jerusalem now stands ( possibly the temple hill itself- 2Chron. 3:1).
3. Without hesitation, Abraham obeys God’s commands; he has lost one child and now to loose another child.
4. Abraham himself had his faith exercised and developed while learning a new lesson that God will provide.
5. His faith was that same God who had given Isaac to both of them could certainly provide a ram for the burnt offering.
6. He made a detailed preparation because this he had frequently done it elsewhere (cf Gen. 12:7-8; 13:4,18)
C. Obedience resulted in God-fearing- Vss10-19
1. ‘The angel of the Lord’ is the Lord himself as the context shows (vs 12, 14,16-18; cf Gen 18:2,22; Gne. 19:1)
2. An anthropomorphic statement; God speaks as if He were human ‘now I know’ doesn’t mean God does not know all things.
3. The swearing of God Himself is to express his most solemn promise.
4. He promised to bless Abraham as He said, because he had obeyed His voice.
5. The divine intention of God also included the presentation to the world of a genuine God-fearing patriarch for whom obedience was the rule of conduct (vrs 18), and gave foreshadowing of the divine sacrifice to be made by the heavenly Father and His only Son.
6. Really, God has sacrificed His only begotten Son, which is more meaningful than that of Abraham.

LESSONS TO LEARN
A. Obedience must exclude hesitation.
B. Faith must work alongside obedience.
C. Ultimate obedience results in God-fearing attitude.
D. Abraham allowed his faith to be tested.
E. God test to strengthen and enlarge believer’s faith.

CONCLUSION
God keeps His promises when we obey His voice and follow His commands. Therefore, we should have faith in whatever we hear and do so that God bless us in abundance. Lets be very much aware that our faith can also be tested by this same God of Abraham. So let’s try hard to pass when it comes to our turn.

LOVE FOR THE DEAF

Thanks be to God for granting us another week. Its a pleasure to have you read this portion concerning the love we all should exhibit towards deaf people around us. Note and share the following points.

1. Even though they are disabled, they are human beings like us.

2. They were born by mothers like our own mothers.

3. They grow like we grow as human beings.

4. They can secure jobs and work as the same as able persons.

5. They can contract marriage through traditional or ordinance law.

6. They can worship God like any other able person.

7. They can communicate to us in many ways namely: writing, signing, texting messages through phones, etc.

8. They can become Ministers of the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

9. They can dance to a music, watch films and understand them, and sing too.

10. They can cast their votes perfectly during national elections.

DEAF MINISTRY
I started deaf ministry in the year 2006. I started with two deah people and as at now, their number has been increased to thirty-one. I am both a signer and interpreter.

From my experience, deaf people are lovely, curious, neat, kind, hardworkers and teachable- if only they are handled with knowledge and proper care. I thank God so much that I am endowed with deep knowledge about deaf people.

Early next year January 2009, Two deaf instructors/ interpreters and I are going to innaugurate Deaf Association in my municipality joined with other two Districts at my area in Ghana.

We aim to find them jobs, provide them with good education, educate their parents concerning their responsibilities towards their deaf children, educate society on who deaf people are, what they can do to contribute toward the growth of their society.

My dear readers, I wish you understand and show love to the deaf as I am, an your bleesings will come in abundance.

Do you have any deaf person around you? I love him/her very much. Let him/her have access to my blog: http://helpingstone-ebenezer.blogspot.com/ and my e-mail: korsaheben@yahoo.com or ebenkosee@gmail.com

Come 24th-28th December, 2008, we are attending Deaf Bilble Camp. I want to touch on leadership responsilities and see how it can help us move along with people as leaders or when there is an appointment to take a leadership role. You are a leader today. Somebody will also become a leader tomorrow. Its good and interesting!

Note this, that, a leader is a person with a given capacity, agiven responsibility to influence the purposes for a group. If care is not taken, he can impact the lives of the subordinates or the members positively or negatively. So should leaders be very cautious indeed? The big answer is YES! Lets reflect on the following.

TWELVE MISTAKES EVERY LEADER MUST AVOID

Every leader makes mistakes, but some of the mistakes can be costly. The following mistakes could be landmines. Watch them!

I. COVERING UP MISTAKES
A. Because of the fear of being disgraced or others thinking a leader is incompe-
tent, mistakes may be hushed up.
B. Instead of covering your mistakes, disclose them in a very professional way so that others could assist without any malice.

II. INCONSISTENCY
A. In executing ,it is very important to do so without looking at faces
B. Favoring some people breeds bitterness.
C. It needs no gainsaying that bitterness in people counteracts any effort you may make in building a strong team.

III. INFLEXIBILTY
A. A leader needs to be fair and firm, but not unbending.
B. Some leaders take very entrenched position when it even threatens their very existence. This is not to suggest that the truth must be compromised even in very tight situation.
C. The point being made here is that one shouldn’t always think that because one is the leader, whatever one says must be obeyed.
D. Dictatorship no longer thrives, although it may sometimes be useful.
E. Listen, listen and listen a lot to your followers and take advice.

IV. PRIDE
A. Pride ,goes before fall
B. Snubs, and command those we are suppose d to influence to get tasks accomplished
C. Leading is about being humble and serving others, instead of being arrogant and inconsiderate.

V. LEADERSHIP IS NOT FOREVER
A. Some refuse to know that they will one day cease to be leaders or leave office. This is a grievous mistake.

VI. SELFISHNESS
A. Think of themselves first.
B. Deny the majority of their followers of such “good things” too.

VII. WRONG TIMING
A. Some leaders ignore appropriate times for implementing policies.
B. They enforce anything, anywhere, any time, because they have the power.
C. This way of reasoning is also faulty.

VIII. FRAUSTRATING PEOPLE
A. Its rather better not to frustrate people, because when those frustrated get support in
your team they could overthrow you or seriously unsettle you. Rather, encourage peopleto blossom

IX. ASSUMING EVERYBODY LOVES OR SUPPORT YOU.
A. There is the tendency to think everybody loves you, because they all smile with
B. You can’t know what is behind every smile, so don’t take everybody for granted.

X. COMPLAINTS
A. Disclose the challenges you face, but should not complain too much.

XI. PROCRASTINATION
A. Although it is in order to bid for the right time to make decisions, it is equally
useful to strive to be decisive.
B. Procrastination paints a lame picture of you as a leader.

XII. VISSION/MISSION
A. Don’t portray yourself as the only one who knows the work you are in , where
you want to and how you want to get there.

B. Your team members may end up pulling in one direction, whilst you are also
pulling in another. This can wreck your institution.

Brethren, is not so easy to. But I want to encourage to prove yourself a good leader now and a leader tomorrow.

All contibutions or comments are mostly and warmly welcomed. Thank you so much for reading.

NEXT WEEK AGAIN!

PREACHING MINISTRY

15 YARS PERFORMANCE ON THE FIELD OF PREACHING

SHORT PROFILE

NAME: EBENEZER KORSAH (GOSPEL MINISTER)

AGE: 40 YEARS

YEARS OF EXPERIENCE: 1993-2008 (15 YEARS)

NATIONALITY: GHANAIAN

NAME OF WIFE: PATIENCE KORSAH

NATIONALIY: GHANAIAN

NUMBER OF CHILDREN: 3 SONS

CONGREGATIONS SERVING PRESENTLY
Assin Juaso Church of Christ.
Assin Brofoyedur Church of Christ.
Stationview Church Of Christ- Assin Fosu.
Fosco Church Of Christ-Assin Fosu.
Adjetey Camp Church of Christ.

RELIGIOUS INSTITUTIONAL BACKGROUND
Western School Of Biblical Studies (Takoradi-Ghana)-Diploma
International School Of Biblical Studies (South Africa)- Advanced Diploma
Heritage Christian College (Accra- Ghana)- Bachelors Degree

ACHIEVEMENTS

CHURCHES PLANTED
Church Of Christ (Fosco Branch)-1994
Church Of Christ (Assin Kushea)-1997
Church Of Christ (Assin Brofoyedur)-2000
Church Of Christ (Bimponso)- 2001
Stationview Church Of Christ (Assin Fosu)- 2005

MINISTRIES
Women’s Ministry (1997-2008)
Deaf Ministry (2006-2008
Campus Ministry (1994- 2008)

MY MOTIVATION
I accept that I am a chosen vessel for the gospel and that leaves with me a sense of responsibility.
